We are seeking an entrepreneurial-minded CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER to assist in the growth of Voluminant over the next decade.

Since 2004, Voluminant has been extremely successful, at-scale, winning work with some of the nation’s most successful companies and organizations, including SUPERVALU (now UNFI), Performance Food Group, dozens of smaller companies and family-owned and operated businesses, and government agencies including diplomatic posts overseas, the U.S. Department of State, and the United States Military. Voluminant has even worked with a professional major league professional hockey team.

The time has arrived to inject some new talent and blood into the management team-level of the venture.

Early on in the Voluminant president and founder’s career, he was looking one thing: a chance. He was energetic, immersed in cutting-edge technology, and full of ideas and the tenacity to go win new work. He was given that opportunity with a privately-owned productivity improvement company where he started in a tenuous, experimental management position at a ground-floor salary. Five years later, he was the chief of operations for a North American line of business. That company ultimately grew to achieve revenue close to $1 billion per year. In 2004, he left that company to start Voluminant.

Now, the founder and president of Voluminant is looking for someone who has that same energy, technology focus, and tenacity to grow and perpetuate Voluminant’s accomplishments. . .

Federal business opportunities have been central to Voluminant’s business strategy since the company was awarded its first federal contact in 2005. Since then, Voluminant has refined its business development process in the federal space and is poised to hire a Vice President of Federal Business Development to lead our federal practice to exponential growth over the next ten years.


1. Monitor and review government opportunities on a daily basis
2. Keep an ongoing track of high potential opportunities
3. Identify key personnel to staff on a contingent basis
4. C0-author and submit proposals to government agencies
5. Monitor award progress and liaise/finalize contracts before hand-off to project teams


** Self-driven – you will need the self-discipline to work independently on your own and remotely
** Technical Writing Skills – you will be authoring technical proposals based on requirements stated in RFP’s
** Attention to Detail – it’s mandatory to include all requested information in submitted proposals
** Competency-driven – you will need to get in the mind of the government contracting team to understand their needs
** Patience – the award rate is approximately one award for 20 submitted proposals (5%); success takes time

This is a critical entrepreneurial role on the Voluminant team. Experience, knowledge and expertise in the federal business development space is preferred, however, this can/will also be trained. Excellent references are a must. A track record of business savvy and disciplined work acumen is necessary.


The hired candidate will be paid a mix of salary + company equity, plus a commission on federal work awarded under your responsibility. All compensation components are scaled based on results. This role could easily exceed six figures within the first year.

Client engagements are tackled through a targeted ten-point analysis of current project and program performance. To support the pmIMPACT tactical implementation, we are seeking an experienced, dynamic and forward-looking Washington, D.C. based Project Management Trainer who is adept in management, quality and software development methodologies including PMI, Prince2, ISO, Lean and Agile.

The PM Trainer will have extensive experience managing projects and delivering training in the project management realm in the government and/or commercial space.  The ideal trainer will have the capability to link effective project management to cost and schedule control, and the impact on an organization’s bottom line.  This trainer will be able to present our already-developed curriculum in an upbeat, engaging and interactive manner, with the knowledge and capability to contextualize the training with “lessons learned” and “war stories”.

The right trainer will possess functional expertise and a solid background in the areas of:
